For barley-shaped pastas, the positions of measurement for thicknesses are the distances between cuts at the pasta’s center. Measurements are taken using digital calipers and further verified by weight.
In addition to piece-per-gram weight verification's, the outside diameters of barley-shaped pastas are measured along their thicknesses, as placed parallel within the jaws of precision digital calipers.
The lengths of barley-shaped pastas are determined as the distances between cuts, and run perpendicular to their diameters. Measurements are taken using digital calipers and further verified by weight.
To assure specified moisture, two batch samples are ground, weighed, heated in an air oven, placed in a desiccator and then re-weighed. Results are validated using two moisture validation machines.
