For rotelle, the positions of measurement for thicknesses are the vane edges that form the twists or flights. Measurements are taken using either precision digital calipers or point micrometers.

Width

The outside diameters of rotelle are measured along their lengths, as placed parallel within the jaws of precision digital calipers.

Length

The lengths of rotelle are determined as the distance between tips. Measurements are taken using precision digital calipers.

Moisture

To assure specified moisture, two batch samples are ground, weighed, heated in an air oven, placed in a desiccator and then re-weighed. Results are validated using two moisture validation machines.
